Class Handling Tips
MANAGING A CLASS (PLAY!)
1. Rule # 1: Get to know your whole group. kids who are
What are their names?
What are their interests?
Did they eat well this morning?
Did they sleep enough the night before?
From there, you can assess their general state, gain an appreciation of their
individual personalities and establish points in common:
“You like laughing so hard that stuff comes out your nose? So do I!”
“My favorite animal is the platypus, how about you?”
“Oh, yum! I love ice cream too!”
In a group setting, you can play get to know you games. Try:
Forming a circle and having each child name their friend to the right.
Having each child add an adjective to their name that starts with the same letter: Silly Sam, Happy Harry, Jolly Jack, etc.
TIP:
Kid culture is key to strong team building, so familiarize yourself with current
children’s interests. Are Power Rangers still relevant? What kid’s shows are the
coolest? Wait… is it still cool to say cool?

Re-set boundaries, “If you do that again, I will have to contact Mom/Dad”
